Excerpt

Gripping Red’s hand tight, the two ran up the stairs, Brooke wincing each time one of the boards squeaked under the pressure of their weight. At the top, the door was open, a fact that had Brooke’s heart jumping up her throat like it was on a damn trampoline. Peering out, she ensured there was no one in sight before tugging Red forward. A few steps into the carpeted foyer, the sound of voices drifted towards them. Panicking, she pulled Red into what she thought was an empty room and shut the door.

Panting, she leaned against the door, trying to catch her breath.

“We have to hide here, Red. I’ll check if it’s safe in a few minutes.” When there was no reply from Red, Brooke turned her head, searching. “Red?” The other woman stood frozen, unmoving in the middle of the room.

“What are you—ahh…” Brooke stepped up beside Red, concerned why she was non-verbal. The room was not empty as she had expected. It wasn’t empty at all and the scene before them was a terrifying one.

Cots. Rows and rows of cots and each one was occupied with a tiny infant. Some were sleeping, wrapped in thin blankets. Others were squirming, having come loose from their bundle. A few were wailing, a loud sound that would make any dog in the surrounding area sit up and take notice. How Brooke didn’t hear them, was beyond her. The adrenaline was a roar in her ears, blocking out everything except listening for footsteps of anyone that might be approaching. A quick count revealed twenty-four cots. Twenty-four babies either stolen are birthed by a mother that was likely a prisoner in the same house of horrors she was trying to escape from.

Covering her mouth, Brooke supressed a scream of disgust. Children. Helpless infants all lined up and ready to be sold by the indescribable monster, Marcus. An auction straight from a mother’s worst nightmare.

“Red,” she tried to get her attention. “Red,” she said with more force. When that still didn’t work, she reached out and lightly shook her. The haunted, empty look in her eyes when Red finally acknowledged her, broke Brooke’s heart into a million tiny pieces.

“My sons. My daughters…” she moved towards the cots. “I—I have to find them. I—I—I didn’t get to—to hold them,” she stammered, peering over the cots at the tiny faces. Her heartbreak was written all over her face as she searched from cot to cot for her children.

Not being able to stand seeing her torment, Brooke rushed to her side, trying to tug her away. “Red, I don’t think they are here now. These…these are infants. As in just born, and you—” Red’s head whipped around to pin Brooke with furious eyes.

“Shut up. You know nothin’. My children are here. They are here.” Tears sprang to Brooke’s eyes at the utter despair in Red’s voice.

“I really wish they were, God, Red. But I promise you, we will make these bastards pay. We will find your children and make sure they can never do this to any other woman,” Brooke’s promise was fierce and true. She would shut this operation down, even if it killed her to do it.

Excerpt:

Barreling out of her apartment in black leggings and a white tank that accentuates those perfect breasts I’m thinking this run, may be the death of me. I already want to trail my hands along the smooth curves of her hips and take those tight black pants right off her body. My breath gets shallow as I near her, my body reacting to what she does to me.

She seems tense, worried about something as I approach. Her top lip is securely hidden under her straight white bottom teeth and she’s eyeing me as I walk toward her.

“Loosen up, Addison. I’m not going to bite.” Running my hand along her ponytail, I give it a slight tug before heading down the stairs, assuming she’ll follow. “Unless of course you ask me to.”

RND_5I’m at the bottom of the staircase stretching, and she’s still waiting up top. Where’s the playful girl from ten minutes ago?
“You coming?”

Whatever had been bothering her seems to vanish as she puts her smile back on and bounces down to me. “Not yet,” she mumbles as she descends the stairs. It’s clear she was talking to herself, not realizing that her double meaning was loud and echoing in my own ears. I instantly get a semi erection at the image of those intense eyes glossing over in ecstasy, her lips parted and my name falling off her tongue.

Standing close, she places a hand on my shoulder for support as she grabs her foot to stretch. Her head is right under my chin, her soft scent surrounding me. Gently I hold onto her arms and keep her steady as she changes legs. The urge to lean down and kiss her overwhelms me as I hold her delicate shoulders, her bottom lip secure under her front teeth.

She’s stunning; her long dark hair is pulled back, her eyes deep in concentration on what she’s doing. I want to tell her how beautiful she is, caught up in this moment with her. The words are on the tip of my tongue when she steps back and pats my ass, taking off at a slow jog. I smile to myself and watch her from behind. Next time she touches my ass, I’m kissing her, no questions asked.

She’s keeping up with me stride for stride as we take off down the beach path. Her breath is coming in gasps, and a sheen of sweat has begun beading on her forehead. I’m barely breaking a sweat, but I’ll get my workout in tomorrow morning at the track, or if I’m lucky, maybe tonight between my sheets. Looking down at her from the corner of my eye, I’m happy to see that she’s now more relaxed.

“How’s the girlfriend search?”

I almost trip on that damn tree root.

“In progress.”

“That doesn’t answer my question.” She’s having a hard time talking, winded from our pace and I think I should speed us up further so she can’t talk at all.

“I’m working on a few prospects at the moment. If any of them pan out I’ll let you know.”

She rolls her eyes and I want to throw her in the sand and kiss her, make her forget she asked me a question in the first place.

“Do you always run at night?” she asks between labored breaths. What’s with the twenty questions?

“No. I’m a morning person.”

Her eyes dart in my direction, as a curious look crosses her face.

“You have a dirty mind, Green Eyes.”

Bumping into me, she argues the topic, barely getting her words out she’s straining so hard. “How do you know,” she takes in a big breath, “what was on my mind?”

“Everything you think is written all over your face. And for your information, yes, I love the mornings.”

Lost in his thoughtsShe stops mid-stride and bends over in laughter, her arms across her midsection as she tries to catch her breath. Suddenly she’s in the sand not even trying to get a handle on the giggles erupting from the depth of her gut. Sand is in her hair and sticks to the sweat that’s covering her skin. Her cheeks were already a rosy color and now they’re turning bright red.

I sit down beside her, my arms propped up on my knees waiting for her to calm down.

When she finally gets a handle on herself, she lies flat on her back and stares up at the sky, her eyes suddenly far away, looking like they’re searching for answers to some unasked question. “My ex was a morning person too. I loved it. It’s quiet outside, and still dark in the bedroom. It’s like a secret time where you feel like you’re the only two people on the planet awake and you’re sharing a piece of yourself with each other. A silent communication that only the two of you can understand.”

Unexpected sadness washes over me listening to Addison long for a situation that clearly doesn’t exist in her life anymore. Whoever her ex is must be a real asshole.

She deserves better than an asshole.

She deserves me.

My Review:

S. Moose is a relatively new author to me but once I read Interrupted Vol 1, this series became definitely a must read for me. And I have to say that I wasn't disappointed with the second part. Similarly to the first part, the story is filled with twists and unexpected  revelations, the writing is pretty good and the characters are well developed. I definitely enjoyed getting to know each one of them on a deeper level and also finally revealing some of the secrets from the past.

Ayden Sharp continues to be his intriguing and mysterious self. I have to say that I quite admire him as a character. He is strong and ready to fight for the people he loves and the things he treasures most in the world. But at the same time he is sometimes ruthless. He doesn't show his soft side to everyone and that makes him appear invincible to his enemies. The strength and ambition he invested to accomplish everything he has is quite admirable and in a way makes him even more desirable :)

Camila is also quite an interesting character. Even though she lived through things no woman should have to, she still finds the strength to continue living her life and even seek love and happiness. Once she finds out about Ayden's true identity, her life is thrown out of its axis once again. Everything she believed to be true appears to be a lie or a deception. But she finds her strength once again to fight again for the one man who held he heart all these years.

In a few words, this is a pretty good short story and I can't wait to find out what will happen next with Ayden and Camila. Their story is quite heartbreaking and intriguing and I am sure that the culmination will be definitely worth reading. So if you haven't started reading the Interrupted series, be sure to check it out now :)

Excerpt:

As if her thoughts had made him appear, Connor strode into the courthouse. Her pulse started beating double time, her stomach muscles tightening. Good Lord, the man was a fucking panty dropper. She’d only been away from him for a few hours and it felt like years since she’d experienced his presence. In jeans and a fitted gray T-shirt that molded to his muscles like her hands itched to do, he personified confidence and authority. Hot, rugged male. His gaze connected with hers immediately and darkened. She thought back to that morning when he’d dressed in the early morning light, his abs flexing as he pulled the shirt over his head. His erection barely contained by his boxers. She’d never been one to beg for anything, but she’d been seconds from offering him her mouth. Pleading for the privilege of sucking him off.

Conner shook his head at her with a sexy half smile on his face, as if he could read her thoughts across the room. He stopped at the metal detector and walked through after the security guard beckoned him forward. When the woman grabbed her wand and instructed him to raise his hands in the air, something ugly reared its head deep inside her. The detector hadn’t even beeped. There was no reason for the personal service. When the woman smiled at Connor and ran a hand down her ponytail, Erin propelled herself forward, boots echoing on the polished marble.

Erin hissed as she drew even with the guard. “If you’re done feeling up my boyfriend, I’d love a turn. We were in a rush this morning.”

The guard dropped the wand, letting it dangle near her thigh. “Did you just hiss at me?”

Erin hissed again.

“Okay.” Connor stepped between them, winking down at her. “We should go. Don’t want to keep the clerk waiting.”

Appreciation spread in her belly like honey. He hadn’t chided her for her behavior or apologized to the woman on her behalf. Instead he’d given the impression they were on their way to get married, appeasing her jealousy in one fell swoop. “That’s right.” She sauntered toward the elevator. “There’s vows to be exchanged. Rings to put on fingers. Shit like that.”

She glanced behind her to find Connor staring at her ass as she walked, so she put a little swing in her hips and savored his groan. Damn. She’d definitely never had this much fun at a courthouse.

A moment later, she and Connor stepped into an empty elevator. She hit the button for the top floor even though the clerk was on the first, and leaned back against the wall, looking up at him through her eyelashes. “How was your morning, baby? Was it worth leaving me in bed, all hot and bothered for you?”

“Fuck no, it wasn’t.” He crooked a big finger at her. “Climb on up here.”

Thank you for your interest in my books! I'm Tessa and I live in the crazy, loud, overcrowded borough of Brooklyn, New York. I love it here. This city is a constant source of inspiration, which is why I've decided to set my most recent books in the Line of Duty Series here.

I moved to New York when I was eighteen, the day after I graduated high school. Threw my suitcase in the back of a Chevrolet Cavalier and drove across the country to find my adventure. I'm still finding it, little by little.Thank you for being a part of it.

My Review:

This is definitely not your normal romance story. I was intrigued the moment I read the blurb and I am really glad that I managed to get my hands on an ARC. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. They are simply intriguing, complicated and entertaining. You will definitely find danger and action, together with notes of humor and hotness, and definitely a feel of romance and tenderness that will make you swoon.

Connor is a really interesting character. With his dark looks, amazing physique and mesmerizing green eyes, he will definitely melt your panties. But when you add to that the demons chasing him every moment of his life and the darkness lurking inside of him, he becomes simply delicious. But he is even better than that. He has an alpha side that will make you beg him to dominate you and a tender and romantic side that will for sure make you fall for him. But this tender and romantic side belongs to one single woman and that's Erin. She is simply his other half.

Erin is an intriguing character all on her own. Suffering through a nightmare as a child and teenager, she has scars that she doesn't believe could be healed. She erected walls around herself for protection and for keeping everyone at arms length. And that all worked until she met Conner. Somehow, he manages to break through and manages to help her heal little by little. Even though Erin's nightmares are still chasing her, Conner is the one who protects her and at the same time manages to set her free, to help her find her inner strength. The strength she needs to finally confront her demons and beat them.

In a few words, this was a really good book and also quite different from the normal romance story. I definitely enjoyed it and I loved the characters. I will be for sure diving into the rest of the books connected to this one. I am definitely interested to learn the other characters' stories. And I can't wait until the next book in the series to come out. I am definitely intrigued to read Austin and Polly's story :) I am pretty sure it will be a page turner.

Excerpt:

Without warning, she throws her arms around my neck and crushes her lips against mine. I know kissing her back is wrong, but I’ll be damned if I don’t want her so badly at this point that I can’t stop myself from giving in. I’ve been so good with restraining myself when it comes to Iris, because protecting her from the chaos that I’ll bring her is what’s always been on the forefront of my mind.

Her fingers thrust into my hair, and I reach down and curl my hands around her thighs before hoisting her into the air. Instinctively she wraps her legs around my waist, and I thread one of my hands into her tousled curls while the other is busy cupping that perfect ass of hers.

“I’ve wanted you since you walked into my trailer,” she breathes against my lips.

A thrill shoots through me at her admission of how long she’s wanted me. “You’ve been driving me out of my mind from the moment I first saw you.”

“Then take me.” Her words leave her mouth in a breathy sigh as she gives me permission to ravage her body.

I’ve wanted her so much for so long, it would easy for me to say screw it and give in and screw her right here in this shed, but I know that’s a dick move on my part. Iris Easton is not the kind of girl you can sleep with one time and never see again. She’s the kind of girl that makes you change everything you thought you ever wanted in life just to be with her.

My Review:

I've read the Black Falcon books by Michelle A. Valentine and I liked them but I wasn't really crazy about them. But when I read the synopsis of Wicked White, I was quite intrigued and decided to try it. And I definitely didn't regret giving this author another read :) I enjoyed it much more than the Black Falcon books. The story is quite interesting and it also has quite a lot of heartbreak. I definitely loved the characters even though their decisions are sometimes quite irrational and event childish at times.

Ace is quite an interesting character. With his dark hair and mesmerizing and warm brown eyes, he is definitely a heartthrob. But he is also not the typical rock star. He doesn't have the bad boy behavior and he doesn't change girls like he changes his underwear. In a way he is more similar to the image I would have of a boy next door than a rock star. But that doesn't make him any less attractive. If possible, he is even more so :) He is also quite romantic and tender and his feelings run quite deep. The way he treats Iris can simply melt your heart and he also gives her the strength she needs.

Iris is at times quite innocent and in my opinion sometimes makes the wrong decision on more than one occasion but ultimately, I like her a lot. Her story is quite similar to Ace's and that forges a connection between them that simply cannot be denied. But unfortunately due to her inexperience (at least in my opinion), she nearly destroys them. Thankfully they get their HEA :)

In a few words, this is quite an entertaining read with a really good romantic story. In case you are a fan of Michelle A. Valentine, I am sure you will love Ace and Iris. If you haven't read anything by her so far, I think this book is the perfect one to start with :) Me, personally, I can't wait to read the next book in the series :)
